I had the pleasure of being a close friend of John in the 1980's and 90's and also serving on CIDS' Board. He was a remarkable person who cared deeply for others, while having the vision and ability to organize and sustain CIDS through good as well as difficult years. There are many children who grew up in Chemung County that can thank John and his CIDS for making a difference in their life.
We had many conversations that saved the world many times over (or at least we thought so.) They may not have always been productive, but we always had a laugh and enjoyed them.
Based on my interaction with John, there should be no doubt that he had a deep love for his family. He was always boasting about his children.
John will be missed.
