Obituary of David E. Barron

Elmira -formally from Genoa, NY passed away at Age 87 on Friday, October 29, 2021. David was born in Mount Pleasant PA the son of the late William and Mary (Hyatt) Barron. His sons Jeffrey McLean and David “Mike” Barron, along with 4 siblings also predeceased David. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Olga Magnus Barron: daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Stephen Dennis of Moravia, NY, Julie and Dan Brojakowski of Elmira, Mary VanNest of Newfield, NY. Two sisters, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. David was happiest, farming the fields of Genoa, taking his grandchildren on the tractors or combines, when harvesting the fields. In his younger days, he loved to dance, from square dancing at Marion’s Big Top in Dryden NY, to the Genoa Hotel whenever they had a band playing. Fishing became a favorite pastime, with his son Mike, they spent many hours fishing the shores of Cayuga Lake. A special thank you to all the fourth-floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing home for taking such good care of their “papa”. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Horseheads Moose Club, 416 Franklin St, Horseheads NY. Those wishing may remember David with a donation to the West Elmira Volunteer Fire Department, 1299 W. Water St, Elmira NY.
