Obituary of Bonnie Lee Keefe

Age 88, passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Bonnie was born in Sunbury PA and raised in Elmira. She is predeceased by her daughter Michelle "Mickey" O. Keefe Callahan; parents, Philip R. and Florence (Garthwaite) Mease; paternal grandparents, who helped raise her, Agnes and Sam Garthwaite; brother Richard (Sylvia) Mease; brothers-in-law Joseph Keefe and Michael (Sharon) Keefe. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, John J. "Jack" Keefe; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina L. and Steve Donahue of Elmira, Colleen D. and Bill Wheeler of Elmira and Jackie B. and Gary Bartholomew of Monroeton PA; grandchildren, Kayleigh (Eric) Bentham, Hannah (Al Jacobs) Davidson, Michelle (Nick) Thomas, Patrick John (Jennifer) Wheeler, Todd Frutchey II, Dean (Jill) Frutchey, Jacob (Rachelle) Bartholomew, Shiloh (Holly Crank) Bartholomew, Josh (Diana) Bartholomew, Gary (Jason Sullivan) Bartholomew, Nickiy (Eric) Heeman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Dick Hughes of Elmira, Mary and Dennis Wolfe of Wellsburg NY, Priscilla Keefe, of Elmira; numerous great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bonnie worked as beautician for Pauldine's Hair Salon in Elmira and had her own shop for some time. She later worked as a home health care aide and hospice worker. Bonnie was a Brownie leader as her daughters were growing up. She was an active member of the former Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, now Emmanuel Community Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. Always a caring person, Bonnie would make sure people in her neighborhood had a meal during the holidays. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Private family services will be held. Those wishing may remember Bonnie with a donation to either Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org) or St. Jude's Children's Hospital (stjude.org).
