Obituary of Erika Lynn Strobel

Age 38, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Erika was born in Binghamton and grew up in Elmira. She is survived by her mother Michelle Hawley Walushka with her husband Thomas; father Wayne L. Chapman Jr.; husband James D. Strobel; children, Hailey Chapman, Gabrielle Chapman, Alexis Chapman, Jaydan Chapman, Heaven Strobel, Sophia Strobel, Jaziya Hollis, Lyric Wright-Kaiser and Brianna Hodge, grandchildren, Bryson and Cali Bailey; sister Jennifer Surles with her children Dominique and Jaziya; great nephew Dior; paternal grandmother Patricia Chapman; sisters-in-law, Patricia Cummings and Kerri Caveny; brothers-in-law, Kevin Caveny and Albert Blow; special friends, Courtney (Tony) Grant, Sandra Butler, Brandy Peckham, Jessica, Danielle Gibbons and family; canine companions, Lily and Bella; and feathered friend Dusty. Erika was predeceased by her grandmother Sophia Hawley and brother-in-law Laquan Surles. Erika's children were her world. She opened her home to anyone and would help anyone in need. She was known for her loud voice and her caring ways. She was a proud business owner of Handmade and Heartfelt and had worked seasonally at H&R Block and part time at Woofs, Wags and Wiggles. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 West Water Street, Elmira NY 14905, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Masks are required at the funeral home.
