William L. Maycumber, Jr. "Billy" Age 48, of Elmira, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2011. Billy was born December 25, 1962, a son of Mary Ellen Conklin Maycumber and the late William L. Maycumber Sr. He is survived by his wife, Carol Powers Maycumber of Elmira; son William L. Maycumber III of Elmira; stepson Matthew Powers of Elmira with daughter Adrienne Benjamin; sister Mary Catherine and Kevin Barrett of Horseheads; brothers John Maycumber with Jackie Gilmore of Horseheads; James and Kimberly Maycumber of Elmira; sisters Ann Maycumber; Teresa and Dan Pfuntner; Jennifer Maycumber with Phil Guinn and Amy Huntley all of Elmira; Father and mother-in-law James and Judy Powers; sister-in-law Jackie and Bud Wheeler; brother-in-law Mike and Norma Powers; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special friends Michael Simpson and Steve Burns. Billy was employed with the Elmira City School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Feb 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Church. A private burial will be at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Billy's memory may be directed to the Catherine Creek Chapter: Trout Unlimited, Care of Mimi Simpson 503 Mathews St., Elmira, NY 14904.
