Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Rohde Watts Elmira Heights: Age 70, born July 7, 1941. George passed away at home August 29, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents John Thomas and Ann E. Watts. He is survived by his sister Madonna Gordon, brother Thomas Watts, son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Rosette Watts, stepdaughter Tina Clinton and several nieces and nephews. George is also survived by Lance's mother Lucinda Terwilliger, and Kristy Jo Croman. George worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in the Elmira area beginning in 1970 and later in administration, retiring after 36 years of service in 2006. Throughout the years, he made many lifelong frinds within the Postal Service, through sports he participated in, and through the many fraternal organizations he was a member of. He was also an avid sports (especially Washington Redskins) fan and golfer, traveling to NCAA football games and basketball tournaments, pro baseball games and training camps and NFL games; and for George, too much golf was not even close to enough. Amidst all of these activities, he also managed to proudly complete his Masters Degree from Elmira College. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to remember George. A short memorial service will take place at the end of calling hours. He will be interred at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Elmira, NY Friday September 9, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georges name are welcomed to the Chemung County SPCA and The Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
