Obituary of Steve Acuto

Steve Acuto Elmira: Age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 20, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was a son of Peter and Rose Acuto. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen A. and Douglas Wright of Pavilion NY, Laurie A. and Robert Rafferty of Kokomo IN; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven D. and Nancy Acuto of Elmira, David W. and Laura Acuto of Horseheads; grandchildren, Matthew Shelters, Jennifer (Steve) Davis, Michael (Pattie) Shelters, T.J. (Karen) Acuto, Kristen Acuto, Bryan and Christa Acuto, Sarah and Joseph Rafferty; also surviving are great grandchildren, Michael Shelters Jr., Emily and Drew Acuto. In addition to his parents Steve is predeceased by his brother John and sisters, Louise Pacioni and Mary Campese. Steve came to Elmira in 1961 with his partner Bill Frame and opened Frame Acuto Rambler. In 1965 he bought the Pontiac franchise and formed Steve Acuto Pontiac, which he ran until his retirement in 1985. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Steve's memory may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning NY 14830. The Acuto family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Debbie, Mary Ann and Lori for the dedicated and compassionate care provided to Steve over the last three months.
