Obituary of Franics Miles

Please share a memory of Franics to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Francis X. Miles "Bud" Elmira: Bud died at home on Friday, February 3, 2012. The oldest of five children, he was born October 28, 1926 in Corning NY to the late George Dewey Miles and Florence Manning Miles. As a teenager Bud worked on his father's milk route, Miles Dairy. Following that he worked for the Erie Railroad and at the age of 18 began 43 years of employment with New York State Electric and Gas Corp. Bud was truly a self-made man: intelligent and kind, with a ready smile and a great sense of humor. Surviving Bud is his wife Mary Ellen (Bateman) Miles; step-daughter Susan (Kel) Rone; sister Johanne Miles; brothers, Joseph Rockne Miles, and George (Haven) Miles; aunt Catherine Manning; sister-in-law Carol Miles, widow of his beloved brother Dr. William Miles; nieces, Sara Miles and Debra (Paul) Desmarais; nephews, Scott (Regina) Miles, and Douglas (Susan) Miles; great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins. To the many caring and committed individuals from various branches of healthcare whom we have encountered over the last six years; to the staffs of our restaurant "haunts"; to our families, friends, and neighbors; and to those who have held the door and given us a smile and hello, we extend our gratitude. As Bud said to his devoted caregiver, Patricia Pipher, "I thank you from the bottom of my heart!" Visitation hours will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., Elmira. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may honor Bud with a donation to the charity of their choice.
