Obituary of Cornelia M. Stowe

Cornelia Elizabeth Moyer Stowe Elmira: Age 95, passed away, Monday, April 8, 2013. Cornelia was born in Fort Plain NY on January 2, 1918 to the late Jay E. and Wanda Tompkins Moyer. She was predeceased by her husband Harry J. Stowe in 1992; brothers, Emerson C. Moyer in 1977, T. Tremain Moyer in 2005, Jay Erwin Moyer in 2012; sister and brother-in-law, Alice Biancucci in 2013 and Alfonse Biancucci in 1992. Cornelia is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Wanda Hughes, Hendersonville NC; Carolyn Stowe, Horseheads; Clara and William Krolak, Elmira; grandchildren Jason Lewis (Manda Blackwell), Stephanie (Brian) Campbell, Angela (Jerry) Pagorek and Christopher Myshak (Corinne Robert); great grandchildren, Lawson Pagorek, Kamryn Campbell, Abigal Myshak, Kaiden Campbell and Allison Myshak; several nieces and nephews. Cornelia was a graduate of Cornell University College of Home Economics (Human Ecology) class of 1941. In March of 1942 she joined the staff of Cornell Cooperative Extension in Chemung County as an Associate 4-H Club Agent. On December 30, 1943 she married Harry J. Stowe and became a Farm Wife. Cornelia was active in Horseheads Grange, Chemung County Pomona Grange and a member and officer of New York State Grange. She was also active in the West Hill Volunteer Fire Department, serving as secretary for many years. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, April 12, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Committal prayers and burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Cornelia may be directed to any of the local animal shelters, Tanglewood Nature Center, or a charity of one's choice.
