I remember when I found out you were my dad and we spoke on the phone on Christmas Eve all those years ago. We were both so overcome with emotions and just spent hours each night talking and getting to know one another.
I remember flying to NY to ‘meet’ you and the family and being so nervous and when you picked me up, I didn’t even know what you looked like. You just came to me and hugged me like you never planned to let go again.
I remember you couldn’t stand the cold and here I was, this teenager from Florida in my t-shirt and jeans on New Years Eve and you, a NY Native all your life were sooooo cold, you had a hat and gloves and were shivering, yelling at me about not wearing a coat... haha.
I remember when you introduced me to the rest of the family. Overwhelmed is an understatement but also just a sense of belonging took over. Everyone just welcomed me back into our family like I had never left. I had never felt more loved or wanted than you and the rest of the family made me feel.
Thank you for always loving me and never losing hope that God would find a way to bring me back into the family. I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of ‘meeting’ you again and so very grateful I had the honor to introduce you to my husband and children.
