Obituary of Firmina Sweeney Jung Wilkins

Age 97, formerly of Pine City, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Woodbrook Assisted Living, where she had lived for the past several years. Firmina was born in Elmira the daughter of Jeremiah and Elizabeth Kingston Sweeney. She was predeceased by her first husband Vincent Jung, formerly of Cincinnati OH, in 1963 and by her second husband James H. Wilkins in 2002. Firmina is also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed and Dorothy, John "B.J." and Agnes, Gerald, C. Michael and Madeline, William "Jut" and Beatrice, Paul, Leo and Beatrice, son: Jonathan Wilkins. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Ray Bellows of Milan PA, Sandra and Dennis Crawford of Avoca NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Firmina attended St. Mary's School and Elmira Catholic High School. She retired as the Director of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Firmina with a donation to either, Notre Dame High School, 1400 Maple Avenue, Elmira NY 14904 or Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1010 Davis Street, Elmira NY 14901.
