Age 90, loving husband, greatly beloved father and grandfather on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 has gone to his heavenly reward. Dick was born in Elmira, the son of Charles and Esther Patterson Gilmore. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Barbara Ann Creighton Gilmore; daughter Sandra J. Henderson, sister Joan Bailey and great grandson Ezra. Dick is survived by his children and their spouses, James M. and Ann Gilmore of San Lorenzo CA, David P. and Alison Gilmore of Glen Burnie MD, Thomas V. Gilmore of Glasgow MI, Christina M. and Dr. Brian Cassetta of Elmira, Steven B. and JoAnn Gilmore of Owego, Karen E. and Chris Elson of McKinney TX, Virginia M. and Kenneth Brooks of Elmira; son-in-law William Henderson of California; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Glen Larison of Odessa NY, Mary Ellen and Howard Ames of Lakeway TX and Silvia Leggett of Elmira; 26 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 12:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Burial will take place on Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
