Obituary of Sue Ann Parker

Age 59, of Elmira, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Sue was born in Elmira, one of eight children to the late Thomas J. and Elizabeth Ludwig Golden. In addition to her parents Sue is predeceased by her husband Daniel J. Parker; brother Frank Golden; sister and brother-in-law Debra and Bruce Wilkinson; father-in-law Al Parker. Sue is survived by her children, Matthew John Parker, Katrina Sue "Katy" Cartwright and husband Andrew, Jacob Francis Parker all of Elmira; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Linda Golden of Warsaw NY; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and David Guyette of Elmira, Maryanne and Mark Hitchcock of Elmira, Diane and Ric Augustine of Pine City, Beth and Michael Cantando of Horseheads; mother-in-law and father-in-law Nancy and Larry Comfort of Horseheads; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debra and Rich Swan of Horseheads, Julie and Bob Kriston of Lowman; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She had a special love for her pets, Rex, Sadie, Frizzle, Hershey, and Harvey. Sue was a 1976 graduate of Southside High School. It was while at Southside that she met her future husband Dan. After Dan died in 2004 he continued to be the love of Sue's life until her death. She had worked for Southern Tier Pediatrics for over 30 years at a job she truly loved. Sue was a devout Catholic and lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church. She had been a long time Eucharistic Minister and recently became a lector at Sunday Mass at St. Mary's. You never left Sue without a smile or a hug. Sue had a great love and devotion to her family. Throughout her life she had been a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Sue just adored her three children and was looking forward to the birth of Katy and Andrew's baby boy Parker Scott Cartwright who will be born in August. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Sue with a donation to Smile Train, P O Box 96231, Washington D.C. 20090-6231. It is a charity to help children who were born with a clef palate. As Sue would say, "Te Amo Siempre", which means, "I love you always".
