Obituary of Norman Charles Niles

Age 69, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Norm was born in Johnson City NY, son of the late Nelson and Eleanor Lewis Niles. He was also predeceased by his sister Wilma, granddaughter Marietta Southard and sister-in-law Patricia Niles. Norm is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Orletta Ellsworth Niles; children Robbin (Eric) Palmer, Nona Niles (with Pepper Austin), Orletta (Al) VanKeuren, Kelly (Robert) Barrows, Norman (Elizabeth) Niles, and Priscilla (David) Southard; siblings, Dennis Niles, Milton (Diane) Niles, Charles Niles, Lydia Niles, Nyomi (James) Rice and Wayne (Robin) Niles; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Norm was a US Marine Corps Veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from Burns Security with 20 years of service. Norm was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 803. He was an avid bowler at Dixie Lanes in Elmira and had bowled a couple of 300 games. Most importantly, Norm was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Committal prayers, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
