Mary was born in Acushnet, MA, daughter of the late Luciano and Gladys (Gracie) Maciel. She was also predeceased by her sister Barbara Kim. Mary is survived by her husband of 48 years P. Mark Klinger; son John R. Klinger of Denver CO; daughter Dr. Mary Beth Klinger-Lawrence of South Hero VT with husband Ryan Lawrence and children, Cullen and Gracie Mae Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Jacqueline Maciel of Franklin MA; mother-in-law M. Jean Klinger, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dr. Samuel Kim of Hilton Head SC, Rosemary and Brian Sartor of Columbus OH, Ann "Bunny" and Ronald Springfield of Newport NC, Matthew Klinger of Syracuse NY, Elizabeth and James Leonard of Rock Hill SC, Paula and Robert Blasyzk of Waxhaw NC; several nieces and nephews. Mary earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Elmira College and her PhD from Union Institute and University of Cincinnati OH. She retired as an Associate Professor Emerita from Empire State College after teaching for 21 years. Mary enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and hiking. She and Mark had hiked several national parks across the United States. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mary will be buried at Bath National Cemetery.
