Passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2022, with loving family at his bedside, after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in Elmira, son of the late Leo T. and Harriet Mitchell Krolak. He was also predeceased by his sister JoAnne Krolak. Bill is survived by Clara Stowe Krolak, his loving wife and companion of nearly 40 years. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Jason (Manda) Lewis of Elmira; daughter and son-in-law Angela (Jerry) Pagorek of Chittenango NY with their son Lawson; special cousin Anne Hughes and her family; several other cousins and in-laws; special life-long friends, Tom Petzke and Wally Powers; faithful canine companions Riley and Rosie. Bill was a 1972 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He continued his education and graduated from both Corning Community College and Elmira College. Bill had a 34-year career with the New York State Department of Labor working out of the Elmira office. He retired in 2012 as Labor Services Supervisor. Bill was a member of the Elmira Elks Club. He always enjoyed being active. Bill coached CYO basketball and a women’s softball league. He played in both a big ball softball league and Monday night Mark Twain Golf league for many years. Bill was a diehard New York sports fan of the Yankees, Rangers, Knicks and Giants. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to call at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). The Krolak family requests that those attending the church services please wear a mask. Committal services will take place at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. The family will provide flowers.
