Elmira: Age 80, passed away peacefully, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center; on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Mary Margaret was born in Elmira, NY; the daughter of Richard and Agnes Golden Taylor. She was predeceased by her first-born infant son Gerard Patrick Murphy, sisters, Barbara Rice Taylor, Susan Taylor Chorney, and Rose Marie Taylor. Mary Margaret is survived by her devoted husband of 55 ½ years Joseph F. Murphy; her children, Tony (Cathy) Murphy of Elmira, Katie (Eddie) Sinnott of Fuquay, NC, and Joseph E. Murphy of Elmira; grandchildren Bridget Murphy, Justin, Jacob, and James Sinnott; brother Richard Taylor of Buffalo, NY; sister-in-law Mary Murphy Calabucci of Penn Yan, NY; brother-in-law, Robert Chorney; along with countless beloved family members. Mary Margaret was a teacher's aide at the BOCES Fassett Elementary school for over ten years. She also was devoted to her faith and an active member of the church; one of the original adorers of the Adoration Chapel at St. Casimir's Church and taught Sunday school at St. Patrick's Church. Mary Margaret loved to travel, spending winters in North Myrtle Beach and summers on Keuka Lake. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Water St., Elmira, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021; from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 12:00 (Noon).
