Obituary of John F. Liddy

"Jack" Age 93, passed away peacefully, with his children by his side, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Jack was born in Elmira, son of Leo V. and Winifred Cunningham Liddy. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Beverly Goggin Liddy; brother and sister-in-law Leo and Geraldine Liddy; sister and brother-in-law Margaret "Sis" and John Carroll; brother-in-law Edward "Steamboat" Supple. Jack is survived by his children, with their families, John T. and Nancy Liddy of Tully NY with sons, Daniel, Eric and Patrick; Anne W. and Paul Gamerdinger of Morristown NJ with sons, Matthew and Justin; Mary R. and Burke FitzPatrick of LaFayette NY with children, Tanner, Molly and Evan; sister Rose Supple formerly of Elmira; several nieces and nephews. Jack was a U S Navy Veteran of WW II. He retired as a salesman from RKB Enterprises (formerly Rose, Kimble and Baxter) after 43 years of service. Jack was a devout Catholic and a life-long communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a long-time active member of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62. Jack always took great pleasure working in his yard and enjoying his back deck. He especially loved visits from his eight grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, SEPTEMBER 22, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 23, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Jack with a donation to either, St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, 555 St. Joseph's Blvd., Elmira NY 14901 or CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post NY 14870. The Liddy family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the nurses on the 3rd floor skilled nursing unit at St. Joseph's Hospital for the wonderful, loving care they provided to Jack over the last several months. Officers and members of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62 will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Friday, SEPTEPMBER 22, 2017 at 7:15 p.m. to conduct a service for our departed brother Jack.
