Age 61 of Elmira, passed away peacefully in Buffalo after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Bernadette was born in Brooklyn NY a daughter of John A. and Shirley (McDonagh) Schalhoub of Narragansett RI. In addition to her parents Bernadette is survived by her husband of 29 years James M. Brannick; son Michael J. Brannick, daughter Marissa A. Brannick; sister and brother-in-law Laura and James Rush of Narragansett RI; brother and sister-in-law John and Ping Schalhoub of Connecticut; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diana and Daniel Coulon of Mandeville LA. Bernadette was a graduate of CUNY and earned her MBA from St. John's University. She had worked for 10 years in New York City with JP Morgan Chase in leverage finance. Since moving to Elmira her passion was creating a warm haven for her family. Bernadette was the artisan of her home, her art and design talent is cherished by her family. Bernadette's most treasured moments were spent with her family. Her legacy is her devotion to Jim, Michael and Marissa. Calling hours will be held at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 West Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Those wishing may remember Bernadette with a donation to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City NY 13790, or to an organization supporting the cure for cancer. Bernadette's family is deeply grateful for the special Memorial Mass that was held for Bernadette at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, E 11th Street, Manhattan, celebrated by Holy Father Andrei Kulyk on May 29th. They are also grateful for the wonderful care provided to Bernadette by Dr. John Butsch, the surgical team and staff at Buffalo General Hospital and the staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo.
