Obituary of Leslie Paul Meriwether

Age 65, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Bethany Manor. Les was born in Elmira, a son of the late Milton W. and Theresa (Hofbauer) Meriwether. He is survived by his wife Sandi Meriwether of Aurora CO; children, Peter Daniel Meriwether of New York City and wife Rena Jenson; Elizabeth Kathryn Meriwether of Brooklyn with Sean O'Leary; Victoria C. Sudduth of Parker CO and husband Mark; Shannon K. Duncan of Castle Pines CO and husband Dr. Albert Duncan; siblings and their spouses, Vincent and Donna Meriwether of Lakeland FL, Joseph and Nancy Meriwether of Elmira, Julie and Steve Bonning of Baltimore MD, Kathy Oakley of Elmira, Carol Meriwether and her husband Paul Griggs of Wynantskill NY; five grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Les was the Distribution Manager for Labelon Corp. in Canandaigua NY prior to retiring. He was a well-known musician who played lead guitar for several bands, including, Horsetail Rush, Legacy, Rough Edges and Curly Joe. Les loved classical music, bible study, astronomy, and especially his family. He was always ready with a simile, a joke or a warm comforting hand. A Memorial Service for Les will be held at Bethany Manor, 3005 Watkins Road, Horseheads, on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. The Meriwether family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Bethany Manor and CareFirst for the wonderful care provided Les. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Les with a donation to Bethany Manor.
