Obituary of Debra J. Wright

Age 51, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Debbie was born in Cobleskill NY a daughter of the late Alvinzo T. and Lillian (Timosevich) Wilson. She is also predeceased by her father-in-law Robert Wright. Debbie is survived by her husband of 23 years, James E. Wright; children, Lydia R. and Lucas J. Wright; brother and sister-in-law, Alvinzo "Vinnie" and Amy Wilson of Cobleskill with their children, AJ, Allison, Alexander and Adam; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Gary Rudolph of Orinda CA with their sons, Connor and Jack; her cousins, whom she thought of as siblings, Cathy Stephens of Esperance NY with husband Carl and daughter Alysha; MaryAnn Pickering of Florida with husband Bob and children, Joseph, Jonathan and Kelly; mother-in-law Lois Wright of Worcester NY; in-laws, with their families, Gregory and Marie Wright of Raleigh NC with their children, Lauren Wright (David Schermbeck), Lindsey (Richard) Goeres and Nathaniel Wright; Pamela and John Zeno of Norwich NY with their children, Taylor, Rachel and Daniel; Robert and Michele Wright of Worcester NY with their daughters, Michaela and Madison; along with several aunts, cousins and many good friends. Debbie was a 1983 graduate of Schoharie Central School. She earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Potsdam and her Master's Degree from the College of St. Rose, Albany NY. Debbie and Jim lived in Colorado for 4 years before moving to the Elmira Area. She was a beloved elementary teacher, first in Cobleskill, then Colorado and finally Elmira where she was a 5th grade teacher at Cohen Elementary School, Elmira Heights. Debbie loved her students and they in turn her. She had a passion for learning and worked hard to inspire that same passion in her students. Debbie was diagnosed with ALS in September of 2015, retiring in November of that same year. As much as she loved teaching she loved being a wife and mom even more. Family and friends are invited to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 300 E. Miller Street, Elmira, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Skip Reed and Pastor LeeAnn Zeck.
