Age 82, of Elmira, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary Kay was born in Elmira a daughter of Anna (Sullivan) and Leland Brewer. She is predeceased by her husband H. Richard Robinson, daughter Mary Catherine Robinson, and brothers, E. Joseph and John "Jack" Brewer. Mary Kay is survived by her daughter and son-in-law M. Bernadette and Todd McClelland of Elmira with her son Jacob P. Rice; son and daughter-in-law P. Joseph and Jennifer Robinson of Elmira with their daughter Riley C. Robinson; sister and brother-in-law Virginia "Ginger" and Lou Karb of Syracuse; brother and sister-in-law Tracy and Penny Brewer of Syracuse; brother-in-law Frederick E. Robinson of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary Kay was a graduate of Southside High School, Class of 1952. In her earlier years Mary Kay worked as a secretary at Westinghouse in Horseheads. She left the workforce to raise her children. Mary Kay later went back to work as a Food Broker for nearly 20 years. Never one to sit idle, she then worked part time for another 15 years at the Chemung County Clerk's Office. A devout Catholic, Mary Kay was a life time communicant at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. She took communion to the Chemung County Nursing Facility and Woodbrook residents on a regular basis. She was also a coordinator for the St. Casimir's Adoration Chapel for nearly 20 years. Mary Kay was a member of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Family and faith were the most important things in Mary Kay's life. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Mary Kay with a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester NY 14620. Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the A.O.H. will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to conduct a service for our sister Mary Kay.
