Obituary of Jerome C. Kerwan

Age 88, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. Jerry was born in Elmira a son of Clark P. and Loretta (Piper) Kerwan. He is predeceased by his daughter Maureen E. Kerwan and brother John "Jack" Kerwan. Jerry is survived by his wife Angeline Rossi Kerwan, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on September 1st; children, with their families, Mary Virginia and Scott Cummings of Elmira, and their son, Michael; Carolyn K. and Martin Schad of Shrewsbury, MA; Joseph P. and Diane Kerwan of Elmira, and their sons, Ryan (Kara) and Matthew; great-grandson Jackson Kerwan. Jerry was a U S Marine Corps veteran, serving during WWII. He was an installer for Western Electric, which is the equipment division of AT&T. Jerry was an avid reader with a love of history. He enjoyed baseball and was a big Boston Red Sox fan. Jerry's family was most important and he greatly treasured time spent with them. Strong in heart and spirit, very witty, he was a good man who will be dearly missed. Friends are invited to Jerry's Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, July 14, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Jerry's family sends a heart-felt thank you to those who took such wonderful care of him ….Dr. Francisco Corbalan, the CCNF 6th floor staff, Dr. Thuraisamy, and the 2nd floor Comfort Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital. In lieu of flowers those wishing may consider a donation to either, The Alzheimer's Association, 534 E.
