Obituary of Michael Gibson

Michael R. Gibson Age 59, resident of Mira Loma, California, passed away while visiting his brother Dr. Mark Gibson. Mike was born in Des Moines Iowa, on January 28, 1953. He was the son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Morton) Gibson. Mike grew up in a small farm community in Linden, Iowa where he and his family managed a hog farm and grew corn, beans and oats. After studying design at Iowa State University, Mike relocated to California, where he worked in the building trade and became an accomplished carpenter. Mike most enjoyed the sense of accomplishment when work was done well. An extremely generous person, he would do anything for anybody and was always available to help in any situation. Mike was a very loyal friend who will be missed by many. He was an avid reader and was knowledgeable in a great many topics, having a particular love for history. He enjoyed college sports and rooted for his teams in football, basketball and track. Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with his daughter Erica, and grandson, Matthew who loved playing with his "Pop Pop". Memorial services will be held in both Iowa and California. He is survived by his wife; Tracey Lane Gibson; daughter Erica Gibson, Mira Loma, CA, with son Matthew; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Sandy Gibson, Pine City, New York and their children, Kate (John Casey) Dunlavey, Fairport, NY, Rebecca (Timothy) Rudowsky, Portland, OR, with daughter Lucia, and 2nd Lt. Jeffrey Gibson, USMC, Corpus Christi, TX. Mike is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
