Obituary of Rita M. Durgin

Durgin, Rita M. Born in Darien Center NY on December 5, 1940 a daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Muniak) Skorniak. In addition to her parents, Rita is predeceased by her husband Richard E. Durgin Sr., stepson Richard E. Durgin Jr., and brother-in-law John Furno. She is survived by her loving children and families; Robert M. and Kathleen McGinnis of Elmira with children Brittany (Kevin), Robert III and Michael; Joseph M. McGinnis of Elmira; Douglas M. and Christine McGinnis of Horseheads with children Megan and Jonathon; Denise M. and Joseph Mullaney of Elmira with children Sean Rafferty and Sarah Mullaney; Michelle M. and Thomas Buchanan of Erin with children Amanda, C.J. and Mya; Debra M. Durgin and Beth McElligott of Elmira; children of Richard E. Durgin Jr., Brandi (Mike), Richard III and Brandon. Also surviving are great grandsons Blake and Michael; sister, Gloria of Rochester; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Peg Durgin of Napa CA; several nieces, nephews and good friends Mary and Carol. Rita was the office manager of O'Connor Express Inc./Rapid Delivery Service, and along with Richard they operated the company for 30 years. She was devoted to her family and delighted in the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She also liked to cook, garden, and always made the holidays extra special for her family. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching football and baseball. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W.
