Obituary of Anne Ryan

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Ryan Elmira: Age 93, was blessed that her final prayer to go to God was granted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Anne was born in Sayre PA on October 14, 1918, a daughter of James and Bridget (Joyce) McKaig. She graduated from Sayre High School, then moved to Elmira, graduating from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1939. Anne proudly worked for several years as an RN in the Radiology Department at St. Joseph's Hospital. She began a life long love story when she met John "Jack" Ryan, Sr. They were married in 1941 and after 53 happy years, Jack predeceased her on December 4, 1993. They were both life long members of St. Mary's Church in Elmira. Anne was fortunate to be able to enjoy her family and dear friends until the time of her passing. She will be remembered by her four children, with their families, as a loving person who always, unselfishly, put her family first….. Peggy and Robert Lambert with sons, Christopher (Elizabeth) and Patrick Lowery; John and Gail Ryan with children, Christine and Paul (fiancée Kristen); Thomas and Jeneane Ryan with children Marisa and Mathew; James and Jeanne Ryan with daughters, Megan, Elizabeth, and Kathleen. Anne had three great-grandchildren, Meagan, Caitryn and Connor Lowery. Anne had a life long commitment to her faith and family. She approached each with a blend of optimism, humor, and quiet determination. Never one to be the center of attention, she quietly placed her family and friends first in her thoughts and deeds. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Anne on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Anne specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember her could do so with a donation to either, Catholic Charities, Prescription Assistance Program, 215 E. Church Street, Elmira NY 14901, or Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira NY 14903.
