Obituary of Helen Marie Parry

Age 96, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Elcor Health Services. Helen was born August 7, 1921, in Elmira, to the late James and Mary (Hennessy) Hughes. She was also predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years William E. Parry; son Martin Paul Parry; brother Martin Hughes; sisters, Margaret Hughes Ingham, Patricia (Hughes) Moran and Theresa (Hughes) Goodwin. Helen is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, William E. Parry, Jr. of Athens PA, and Michael J. and Keva Parry, Westerville OH; grandson Shawn M. Parry and his wife Amanda; precious great-grandchildren, Logan and Molly Parry. From the family home on Admiral Place, in Elmira, Helen attended and graduated from St. Patrick School. Helen worked various jobs prior to marriage…she was a waitress at the old Newberry's in downtown, a factory worker at the Bendix Plant in Elmira Heights, before finding her true vocation…loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For her family she served as a selfless example of hard work, love and loyalty. She will be missed by her family, but also remembered and loved forever. Family and friends are invited to Helen's funeral service on Saturday, October 28, 2017, 1:00 p.m., McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Helen's family would like to thank the staff at Elcor Health Services for the kind and loving services they provided Helen over the last three years.
